There is a drug called Low Dose Naltrexone that is being used to help with autoimmune related illnesses like MS, Crohn's, Cancer and many many more. The drug is available and approved in 50mg doses for 25 years but when you have cancer all you need to take is 4.5mg and at a cost of 1euro a day. It is madness that this drug which is known to the minister for health is not being investigated and prescribed by every doctor in Ireland. The cost of drugs which do very little for people with MS etc cost the country millions every month, these people could do a lot better and with no side effects on LDN. There is a database of over 400 people using LDN at www.ldndatabase.com .
There is a conference in Glasgow in April this year and all the top doctors around the world who use this drug with great success will be there. Our minister fro drugs and Minister for health should be there too.

Anyone in receipt of certain social welfare payments, like Jobseekers, should be put to work in areas that the government need staff. This could also involve staffing a social welfare fraud squad to investigate fradulent claims. The advantage for people to work in this way is to keep their skills sharp, give something back so they are not receiving money for nothing, keep them working instead of becoming depressed sitting at home, and they may make new contacts and learn new skills in the meantime.

Iarthar na hÉireann 2020 – Todhchaí Gléghlas
Our Vision
A vibrant and sustainable Ireland West, benefitting from world class clusters in ICT, Medical Devices, Renewable Energy and Smart Ocean.
We are privileged to enjoy a unique natural environment in Ireland West. We need to work with and not against our environment to ensure that we have the right development in the right place and create the proper foundation on which to build a vibrant economy. We must use this current crisis as an opportunity to take stock and find a better way of doing things.
Our team believes that working from a sustainability framework, it will be possible to unlock the potential of our Region, in terms of natural and human resources and it is our view that the One Planet Livinga initiative provides a basis for such a framework.
We must understand that sustainability is about more than the environment and includes also social and economic pillars. Econ More...

This proposal envisages Ireland setting up an 'IFSC-like' services centre specifically dealing with exporting healthcare services overseas. Due to various factors such as ageing populations and the rise of chronic diseases, healthcare delivery services worldwide face meltdown as cost of provision of services rises exponentially. Smarter methods of healthcare delivery such as telehealthcare and independent living systems are seen as offering solutions to these problems but the markets are as yet underdeveloped. The opportunity exists for the IHSC to offer these services globally. Other export services offered in the IHSC 'Data Cloud' include healthcare IT and procurement and logistics functions. The proposal which is over 65 pages in length presents the business case, the market analysis and project plan and forecasts greater than 2000 jobs over 7-10 years with the Irish Health Services alone saving over €100Million annually. It also perfectly compliments Irelands current base of medi More...

Simple enough one this, we steal the UK's computer games industry. Partly due to some quirks of history the UK punches far above its weight for the development of computer games, which as we're constantly reminded generate more income than Hollywood etc. Reclassify computer games developers as artists under the existing exemption from income tax for artists laws and watch the servers arrive on the ferry a few weeks later. Since there is currently very little in the way of computer games development in Ireland it's not like we have anything to lose. If need be temp them with free office space of which we have in abundance.

Also get Dave Perry involved. Just give him a blank cheque and do exactly what he says...

The Idea – The Vision
Including the offshore islands, Ireland has almost 7,000km of coastline. It is unique in Europe in that it alone is the only landmass with a complete circuitous route. This makes it ideal for establishing a recognised waymarked walking/cycling path - A Green Road – around the entire perimeter of the island if Ireland. Such a distinct feature has enormous power to contribute towards rural development, particularly in the area of eco-tourism.
Each area would have its own cultural, historical and geographical attractions, and the route could become a target project for the world's tourist walkers - the fastes growing leisure activity.

Ireland is famous for its history, culture, outstanding beauty, hospitality, quality products in linen, glass, beer, the development and use of Information and Communications Technology, Irish fashion ….and now low cost air travel!
Exceptional value for money isn’t exclusive to air travel. All Irish businesses can benefit from our legacy high quality, and more recent great value, reputation. We need to capitalise on our reputation – past and present – and generate growth for Irish businesses.
Businesses need to be supported to adopt some of the business models successfully applied by high profile, internationally successful, 'low cost' companies. Irish businesses able to demonstrate that they offer exceptional value in their field or locality, need to be supported by a national marketing programme, that promotes Irish businesses at home and abroad. Every business sector can potentially apply the 'exceptional value' model. This proposal promotes growth, secures existing jo More...

Our proposal is to develop and harness the enormous, yet largely untapped, potential of Saint Patrick’s Day both at home and around the world.
Every year, on this day, over eighty million people in more than two hundred countries take to the streets to celebrate our Island’s rich heritage. It is the world’s biggest party and a day of great fun and joy for many. But what if it could also be about something even more valuable and significant than this?
Behind the celebrations of our Patron Saint lies a largely forgotten vision that once altered the whole course of our nation’s development. It is the vision for a world in which every life is valued and every injustice is brought to an end. We believe that reconnecting our celebrations on March 17th with that vision could bring social, cultural and political impact to millions. Ours is a nation struggling to deal both with the deep rooted problems of our past and with the growing emergent problems of our present. Issues such a More...

Open Source software is free. It is free of cost to use, share or modify. It also guarantees essential freedoms for the people using it.
This software is widely used within the IT industry by professionals. It is the software behind most of what powers the Internet itself and runs for instance on around 80% of the worlds website servers. All of the major IT companies have become involved in this type of software in the past few years.
Open Source software is made not by a single company, but by a community of programmers. The process is completely transparent and open to all (including companies). This means more flexible, powerful and reliable software which can inter-operate easily.
The immediate cost savings and the long term sustainable industry opportunities are clear. A home grown industry of expertise in this field could be promoted by the government by for instance adopting free Open Source software within the public service. This would in turn stimulate SMEs in the IT aren More...

We know that there are 1000’s of Talented Individuals out there looking for work. The jobs that they used to do are gone but the skills and experience that was gained remains. Skills like Marketing, Sales, Finance, IT, R&D, Operations etc. This is a huge valuable resource which is available right now and could be easily re-channelled into Small local Irish businesses and new entrepreneurial start-ups. Small Businesses are the largest employers in this country, it is only when the Butcher, Baker and Candle stick maker start to gradually become more profitable are we going to see a sustainable return to economic growth.
To make this process work, it is up to the Individual to offer their skills and experience for free, for a pre-determined duration, with a view to creating ongoing work. By removing the initial financial barrier you will get the attention and cooperation of the Employer. This initial ‘trial period’ provides the Individual with the opportunity to show the Employer More...
