No such thing as 'Waste':
A proposal to use new ways of thinking, social networking, co-operative movements and social entrepreneurship to build a vertically-integrated industry in Ireland using waste materials as a resource.
To use a new attitude, a new way of thinking, there is no such thing as ‘waste’ – materials that we may no longer require, do still have value – perhaps in the colour, shape, or intrinsic properties like strength, elasticity, transparency or flexibility. Waste can be re-imagined. Materials can be put to other uses.
What I am proposing is a scaleable process which includes an approach for ideas and innovation development, a proven self-financing cycle, a vertically integrated supply chain that includes cooperative waste management businesses in communities and an approach to manufacturing and sales that will provide new jobs and support existing jobs in Ireland.
This idea:
• Includes R&D & Innovation Development - making use of an ‘Ideas Bank’ an More...

I propose to bring in 10million extra tourists a year to Ireland by offering 10 million 7 day Holiday packages for €299 each to anyone in Europe over 65 years of age
The package would include Flights & a 7 day stay in our multitude of hotels throughout the Country
Ireland is known for being expensive to holiday here & this way we can bring in the extra tourists who
would'nt normally travel here
The airlines (Aer Lingus, Air Arran & Ryanair) would get €99 per passenger
The Hotels would receive €200 for the seven day stay without food(there are thousands of empty Hotel rooms throughout Ireland).
With what the tourists spend when they visit it has the potential to bring in an extra 10 billion euro a year
When we most need it.

In making a submission to the YOUR COUNTRY YOUR CALL competition, I wish to recommend a policy that should go some way to addressing the economic challenges facing Ireland. This proposal, which is entitled the ‘One In Ten’ scheme, focuses on getting the unemployed back to work in industries that are of strategic value to the Irish economy. This scheme targets those who are out-of-work for at least six months, with a view to placing such individuals in positions with organisations operating in key strategic industries.

Obesity rates are rising by the day. So we need help. And if we don’t get it fast then we are facing into a future where paying back the economic mistakes of recent years will seem like playtime. Where the idea of attracting foreign investors with our lean, mean educated workforce will seem like tragic comedy. And where the memories of when thousands and millions of foreign visitors flocked to our little island to enjoy the welcome and the craic will seem very distant indeed.

SAVING NAMA
Turn Risk into Reward!
Brief Conceptual Summary
NAMA is the biggest gamble that this county has ever taken. We have gambled the entire future of the nation. It is a unique concept that apparently has never been tried successfully before. There may be a reason for this. It is important to appreciate that NAMA is effectively based on ‘spin’, buy the over valued assets from the banks with taxpayers money, hope that this restores confidence in our banks, hope that the international financial community buy the concept as a valid economic response, hope that over time property prices will increase again, in short hope for a mini boom in property in the coming years to raise the values of the properties and then release them back onto the market. There is a lot of hope involved in the NAMA scheme, little actual substance and a lot of risk.
The Problem:
Conventional economic analysis suggests that we have an over supply of housing, however if we view the problem from a dif More...

My proposal is to sort and publish all these ideas in a suppliment in the national press - while I'm aware there could be close to 9000 ideas, having them all in a suppliment would allow people to read all the ideas and perhaps could develop their own ideas. I find it very difficult to read all the ideas on this website, but the ones I have read are giving me further ideas.
The supliments could be published during a national entrepreneural week!

We have all been called on to Buy Irish and I'm sure we would all love to, but in my opinion peoples household budgets comes first. Unlike the old Buy Irish adverts this scheme would reward anyone that buys Irish including the Retailers Producers and Consumers. It has the potetial to create many jobs and gives consumers a chance to save money in the process.

Your Country Your Call Entry Proposal
By Eoghain and Ailish Ryan
1. Communications and Technology
o Broadband
Even though this is being rolled out throughout the country this should be encouraged and free WI-Fi spots should be provided throughout every city and town in the country. Each county should have a designated rural broadband hub to encourage growth of internet and technology companies in every part of the country.
There should be progression to 4G in communication and all major infrastructure should be replaced with high speed fibre optic connections.
The provision of high speed data facilities will allow us to be accessible to any company globally as we are perfectly situated in an English speaking country in a timezone that can complement the work carried in Silicon Valley and in China over a 24 hour period allowing for no lag period.
o Technology
Education and the development of all services should be brought online . The development of ecommerce services More...
