I believe that if we are going to improve our current economic situation we need to get back to basics, to realise our strengths in tourism and agriculture and also that through supporting one another on a community level we can create a model of economic sustainability to help us through this potential crisis. Lets face it; its highly unlikely that there is a magic solution to solve our current economic woes in the short term, what is certain however, is that we as a people can decide that we are going to get out there and work together to change every corner of this country; to solve our litter problem for instance, to improve street signange, to uncover and exhibit those archeological gems which lie abandoned in our towns and villages, to paint our buildings, to clean our streets, to organize weekly farmers markets and events to get people talking and spending locally, to plant trees and maintain green spaces. My idea is ultimately aimed at getting us motivated to work together to p More...

Having identified imports of high value food produce which can be supplied locally with relatively modest investment and returns, this multiphase project in the first phase intends to increase yields and returns by the application of established research knowledge and marketing techniques applied elsewhere. It can be applied at sites throughout the country to create substantial, part time employment. As wealth is generated it will be invested to develop the green energy resources to transform seasonal suply to extended availability.

My idea is to promote food tourism in Ireland. Many countries around the world have a food tourism industry which is based on wine tours etc (e.g. Australia and New Zealand). Although Ireland is not known for wine it is known for beer (even though most of the beer in Irish pubs is foreign). I see huge potential around the country as it promotes local cottage industries and therefore encourages local employment and is better socially and environmentally.

in many parts of ireland we have very skilled unemployed.my proposal would entail the use of their skills in implementing/constructing a series of canals-waterways in areas that are constantly flooded.these canals would be built in worse affected areas, saving the livelyhood and property of many.it would reduce the cost to the state and insurance companies plus the potential better crop yields and animal grazing etc.the canals should be built in an engineered way (tiered) in order to create water power that can be used to generate power for the national electricity grid.the secured water can also be used in dry periods to irrigate lands in the vicinity and wider depending on work progress.the savings to the state and insurance (estimated)could be used to finance the immediate identification of areas most likely to benefit from this scheme, work on this project should reduce the financial burden on unemployment payments.produce required would be provided just above cost until the economy More...

“Being Actively Healthy” In view of the alarming statistics re increasing incidence of obesity and diabetes published recently, I am proposing that Ireland takes the lead in food retail law which would require all food retail outlets to participate in promoting consumer nutrition education/information and in protecting human health. This initiative would lay the foundation for an empowered healthier consumer while also it would be the catalyst for a new “Being Actively Healthy” enterprise culture. Let’s remember the leading example action Micheal Martin took with the smoking laws.

I have decided to present my old idea to get the jury verdict. Stage 1. Processing of an organic waste by means of usual flies. Selling products that accompanying process of processing. In process to processing of an organic waste by means of usual flies there are the products which price in the world market constitutes from 700 to 20000$ / kg. The given enterprise is better to place near a big city, and it is desirable, that close there would be any large enterprise which performs carbon-dioxide gas emissions in great volumes (thermal power station, boiler, large factory etc.), or a brisk highway. First, big cities generate a considerable quantity of an organic waste with which recycling frequently the authorities have big problems. Besides, the big city gives a lot of carbon-dioxide gas (exhaust gas of motor transport and the factories). The organic waste will be placed in hermetic boxes in hangars with transparent roofs. Transparent roofs will allow us to save on artificial illumi More...

In key towns throughout the country, I propose building centres of "Market Excellence". Located in key towns serving large hinterlands and aligned with the National Spatial Strategy, these centres would provide: a) Serviced Market Spaces primarily selling locally sourced food produce of the highest quality b) Administrative Support Centre c) On-site Sales and Marketing specialists providing support to vendors d) Educational and Business supports on-site In addition to food produce, the markets would also have: e) A Design Centre for fostering design and creative talent locally f) Serviced spaces in the Market dedicated to selling locally designed products g) Artists exhibition spaces h) Graphic Design and Printed Media specialists for the production of promotional material related top the market and individual vendors The title also refers to Desire. With NAMA taking on the challenge of unused or misused development land,I propose creating a series of yew hedge farms on some of this land for the purpose of manufacturing tamoxifen. The limey soil of the Irish midlands is ideal for growing these hedges where in late summer, yew farmers can harvest the clippings for processing at a plant onsite. As the patent on tamoxifen has expired,we can feasibly create our own non-synthetic brand for use at home or abroad by utilising our talented pharmaceutical workforce.
