I suggest that Ireland be declared the "artist capital of the World.Ireland is a country thats steeped in the arts tradition. We have beautiful irish music thats world renowned and ecstatically beautiful landscape that lends itself perfect to artists.
We could dot the countryside with art villages like Cill Riallaigh in south West Kerry which was a major success.Thomas Town in Kilkenny is another example which has become a centre for arts and crafts..tory Island is another.
Declaring Ireland the art capital of the world would attract a lot of wealthy people to our shores. Thus bringing a lot of revenue into the country. It would also create a lot of jobs in the building of art studios and schools. Also in the employment of teachers of the various arts.
Ireland has always been known for its arts. Therefore we should maximum exploit what we are good at. Just like other countries do.

Give to each Irishman/Irishwoman a well designed place, together with the time and the best tools to think, and create a nation of a thinking and communicating population to get Ireland back to where it belongs, at the forefront of the “intelligent society”, and the emerging wave of the so-called Third Industrial Revolution.
This idea is to regenerate a number of pubs (as social hubs) across the country, and through redesign converting it into ‘social innovation hubs’ and ‘places for thinking’, open to the general public. The physical network will be supported by an online network of users and partners, which will be a catalyst for Irish social and creative capital, to boost thinking and ignite innovative collaborations

This proposal is a vision for what is possible when a community pulls together & finds a new way to harness the creative power of its human resources for the benefit of the entire community. It’s about creating a new paradigm for the arts & redefining the role of the artist practitioner in our society. It is also about re-awakening the opportunity for good old-fashioned community spirit. It is about bringing together seemingly unrelated economic sectors in the workplace through the arts and the community. It is about discovering new ways to create economic opportunity in areas that have simply been overlooked. It’s about discovering a new frame of reference for the role of the arts culture within the community. It is about getting into action and initiating projects that will have a tangible and positive impact on cultural life in Ireland and the society as a whole.
This proposal focuses on addressing head-on the challenge of re-visioning and rebuilding our eroded economy by More...

The application and practice of design is said to be the key to successful innovation. The ability of Irish businesses’ to utilise design as a tool for innovation will be crucial for their survival and growth in an increasingly competitive economy. Design will also play an increasingly important role for our public services and their task of meeting demand amid a financially constrained environment. Fundmentally speaking design is an inherently pragmatic discipline; this is why it is of such interest to both the public and private sectors in Ireland - it gets results.
This proposal aims is to identify an actionable and achievable strategy for Ireland, which will help spark a culture of innovation. A researched and coherent plan that will reignite and sustain our business sectors, help us create new jobs, secure existing ones, and more importantly generate new opportunities and potentially new industries.
It outlines 8 initiatives which can kick-start our economy and ensure sustai More...

An annual international drama festival where plays from around the world are invited to perform in Ireland.
Plays to be judged by a panel of internationally renowned playwrights/directors/producers/critics..
Prizes awarded in different categories with a major cash prize.
The "Nobel prize of theatre"....
This would exploit Ireland's traditional strengths in performance and literature.
It would shine a spotlight on our country once a year in the same way the Oscars or the Nobel prize does so for Hollywood and Stockholm/Oslo.

“Being Actively Healthy”
In view of the alarming statistics re increasing incidence of obesity and diabetes published recently, I am proposing that Ireland takes the lead in food retail law which would require all food retail outlets to participate in promoting consumer nutrition education/information and in protecting human health. This initiative would lay the foundation for an empowered healthier consumer while also it would be the catalyst for a new “Being Actively Healthy” enterprise culture. Let’s remember the leading example action Micheal Martin took with the smoking laws.
