Electric motorway that uses an electromagnetic field to induce charge or to propel vehicles along. Be it new electric vehicles which may only have limited speed and range will have the benefit of been able to travel motorway at speeds of up to 120 km/ph while topping up their charge to allow them to go further off motorway. Or Existing vehicles that can have a modification made that will allow them to switch from fossil fuel while on the motorway. Renewable and sustainable energy can ensure 0 carbon emissions. Electric motoring is reported to cost as little as 1p per mile. This system can be easily installed by incorporating a road cutting saw, Track decoiler, asphalt dispenser and a road surface finisher on a 40 ft rig. Distances of between 10 and 50 KM of road could be laid in a day and as only one lane would require the track minimum disruption would be caused to the public. The vehicle modification could be produced in mass in Ireland and be fitted by registered garages around t More...

We have some of the finest renewable energy & precipitation sources in the world. We also have some of the mot beautiful scenery in the world. However most of these resorces remain unharvested & when we eventually do start generating from renewable sources our infrastructure is not good enough to make power export a viable option. We could feasably export water but at times we can't even cope with our own water needs. Our beautiful scenery can often be only seen safely by car as we have no footpaths or cycle lanes and the scenery is scared by the proliferation of telephone & electric cables on telegraph poles. We also have a massive human resourse out of work in the construction industry. The Utilities Interlink is proposed to provide a realistic and achievable system to link utilities to all our towns and cities while providing cycle lanes & footpaths. At the moment all our utilities follow there own tracks around the country. However all centres of population are linked More...

I propose a way to save energy costs, generate €3bn of internal investment and significantly reduce reliance on energy imports.

THIS PROJECT IS ABOUT IRELAND IN THE WORLD, AND THE SEVENTY MILLION PEOPLE WORLD WIDE WHO ARE IRISH IN ANCESTERY OR HOLD IRISH PASSPORTS. MUINTIR CHANGES THE WAY WE BRAND IRELAND AND IRISH GOODS AND SERVICES, IT PROMOTES A CULTURAL SHIFT IN UNDERSTANDING THAT BEING IRISH BY BIRTH OR ANCESTRY, WE ARE A MIXTURE OF VARIED SETLTERS, VIKING, FRENCH, , WELSH ENGLISH, SCOTTISH, JEWISH, FLEMISH, IN THE PAST, AND IN RECENT TIMES, A NEW POPULATION HAS BEEN ADDED TO THAT MIX. OUR INDUSTRIAL AND CRAFT PRODUCTS ARE EQUALLY DIVERSE, AND MUINTIR TWINES THIS DIVERSITY INTO A NEW GLOBAL MARKET AND IRELAND SHOWCASE. IT’S A TWO WAY MARKETPLACE –COMPANIES OWNED OR STAFFED BY THE IRISH ABROAD WOULD HAVE AN EQUAL PLACE WITH INDIGENOUS COMPANIES, LEADING TO NEW LINKS, LEARNING AND PROFITIBILITY. ONE OF THE MAIN THEMES TO EMERGE FROM THE ATTENDEES AT THE GLOBAL IRISH ECONOMIC FORUM WAS THE IMPORTANCE OF IRISH CULTURE TO THE IMAGE OF THIS COUNTRY ABROAD.…. AS WE STRIVE TO PROMOTE IRISH CULTURE AND More...

“Green” energy sources are the buzzword nowadays and why not. Hydrocarbons are a dwindling commodity. Much research has, and is being done on solar energy, wind energy and wave energy to mention the common ones. Solar is ideal where there is regular sunshine in the world; wind is ok too if one has an almost continually windy location but that is not always the case. Wave energy is still in its early stages of development. My proposal is to use the rivers and large streams to produce power for individual consumers. This can be achieved by a floating turbine suspended between catamaran type hulls.

This proposal is for Ireland to create an international IT system for sustainable transport called ‘MOVE-IT’. Ultimately this IT system is to help all transport users switch to electric vehicles, public transport, or other sustainable travel methods, rather than the traditional and increasingly costly petrol and diesel fuelled vehicles. As part of the IT system, users will have a ‘MOVE-IT’ card, which will record and pay for the transport usage of the individual or business/group from electric charge points, petrol stations, buses, trains, bicycle schemes, aeroplanes etc. ‘MOVE – IT’ cards will be linked to an individuals unique information webpage. Where the user frequently uses sustainable transport, they will then be rewarded. In the case of excessive use of petrol/diesel/high carbon fuels, the user will be encouraged to use alternatives, by providing them with cost comparisons to electric vehicles, applicable public transport, car clubs etc. The MOVE-IT card will pro More...

There is a wealth of Engineering & Science knowledge in Ireland being under-utilised during this downturn in our economy with the increase in unemployment. Electric cars have improved, but an advance in battery performance could have huge benefits for Ireland (in terms of leading in a new environmentally friendly industry); and for the world in helping reduce the negative economic effects of Peak Oil and the environmental damage due to Carbon emissions. Some of these talented people could put their minds to good use if Your Country Your Call sparkde off (!) ideas for a better electric car battery than those available at present. Some of the disadvantages of electric cars at the moment are: A fairly low driving range before having to re-charge them; Unpredictability of potential journeys due to variable depletion of the battery charge, depending on whether you're driving in a hilly area (spoils a good picnic); The time taken to re-charge the battery; The limited availability of poi More...

As a former employ of ESB shop electric. I am proposing that another company IE Board Gas bring in a similar scheme. Were you purchases electrical appliances and have them added to your bill. This would be great for customer's in times when credit is hard to come by. During the boom years people were willing to pay in full for appliances. This hit shop electric sales, and there was little demand resulting in shop closures. Suppliers always ran promotions offering interest free options. This guaranteed them huge sales ,and customer's great value The customer credit ratting was accessed on there bill's. Customers used to come in religiously every week and pay off a few Euros. To resurrecte this scheme at present would be a no brainer. It would provide a few hundred jobs and offer a much needed and missed services

Aside from my othe ridea (D7412), here is a suggestion to avoid failure in pusshing electric vehicles in Ireland (other than by hand). The current strategy is alas probably doomed to failure. Installing a few hundred recharge pods in the middle of the streets all around Ireland (presumably, mostly in cities) is lame for 2 main reasons: 1) it is exposing both the pod and the electric car to vandalism 2) it takes up to 6 hours to fully recharge a battery, or minimum 30 min on a fast charge (how effective is that and does the battery suffer?). Who has the time to wait 6 hours when parked in the city centre, apart from die hard shoppers? Will the pod always be immediately available? What happens if already 2 or 3 cars are waiting for a charge? The solution to this is twofold: 1) Install pods in a area where there is surveillance, by someone who has an interest in seeing such pods working: in existing petrol stations. After all they already supply energy for vehicles in liquid forma More...
