Electric motorway that uses an electromagnetic field to induce charge or to propel vehicles along. Be it new electric vehicles which may only have limited speed and range will have the benefit of been able to travel motorway at speeds of up to 120 km/ph while topping up their charge to allow them to go further off motorway. Or Existing vehicles that can have a modification made that will allow them to switch from fossil fuel while on the motorway. Renewable and sustainable energy can ensure 0 carbon emissions. Electric motoring is reported to cost as little as 1p per mile. This system can be easily installed by incorporating a road cutting saw, Track decoiler, asphalt dispenser and a road surface finisher on a 40 ft rig. Distances of between 10 and 50 KM of road could be laid in a day and as only one lane would require the track minimum disruption would be caused to the public. The vehicle modification could be produced in mass in Ireland and be fitted by registered garages around t More...

Ok my idea is a simple one. I propose that each post office in the country sets up a large container in which people can deposit their spare change, i.e. 1c, 2c, 5c, 10c.. This is the currency which many ignore or completely disgard as useless when buying goods. There is a post office in practically every town and village in the country. This money will go towards the local town councils and community development for the construction and maintenance of roads, public places and local industry creating employment and enterprise. The key here is the money generated from the inhabitants goes straight back to their area. If a road needs repairing, the town councillors send a request to use the community fund, which then employs local workers to maintain a sound community. The idea distances government led support from community self preservation. All too often we hear stories of communities let down by government funds or the lack thereof. Here the pressure is taken off the governmen More...

This proposal is from my family. Having carried out a thorough SWOT Analysis on Ireland Inc., we believe that there is a massive employment opportunity around what we feel is our single biggest natural resource (an island nation surrounded by Sea with Magnificent Lakes and Rivers) which can deliver thousands of jobs in throughout the island of Ireland. The employment and economic benefits would be delivered in every community throughout the country, and would be transformational in terms of unlocking the true potential of the nation. There would have to be total buy-in and commitment by Government, Enterprise Agencies, Tourism Bodies (Nationally and locally) that the single biggest opportunity for employment growth is using our natural resources (Our Seas, Our Lakes and Our Rivers) , and joined-up thinking to bring about this transformational and breakthrough idea in terms of job-creation. It would require the creation of a single Government Authority where ALL aspects of our Sea More...

Crosaire will address the fundamental issue of Small Business growth in Ireland. There are many such initiatives already in existence in the country, but none of them provides the impetus or prominence which this project proposes. The object is to position Ireland as a “Centre of Excellence” for small-scale business development, attracting entrepreneurs from all over the country and around the world and providing the tools for them to create, develop and establish new businesses. The central element of the proposal is the creation of Small Business Nurseries, with substantial facilities and services available to prospective entrepreneurs, coordinated by a Public/Private Partnership and linked with existing educational and professional organisations to maximise effectiveness. This will have the short-term effect of helping to lift the economy and the long-term effect of providing a stable and sustainable platform for ongoing growth in Ireland.

Your building contractor asks you for a 50% deposit of €20,000.00 up front for the window manufacturer on your new house project. What do you do? What if the builder goes out of business after you give him the money? What if the window manufacturer goes out of business? The window manufacturer doesn’t trust you or the builder and won’t even order materials until he has a 50% deposit as security. The builder doesn’t trust anyone, he’s suspicious of the Employer’s reticence in parting with his money and doesn’t want to pay his sub-contractors until he secures his own payments. Welcome to the post “Celtic Tiger” world of Irish Construction.

My proposal aims to help support SMEs in Ireland in the current economic environment to survive, grow and develop. Two major key issues are addressed in my proposal which are key to SME survival, growth and success, namely an additional and untapped source of short-term (and/or longer term financing) plus a source of management capability and expertise provided at an industry level. At the same time, I have proposed a medium to market my proposal to the Irish market and to stimulate interest with key stakeholders. Further, structures to encourage and embed organisational level learning are proposed to ensure progress is maintained and SMEs can develop, grow and create significant additional employment opportunities as a result. Finally, I link my ideas to well documented academic research models as a basis of assessment and validation.

In Ireland, trust has never been needed more, and experienced less, than at present. Lack of trust can destroy even the most thriving economy or the strongest business. High trust has the potential to create unprecedented and long-lasting success and prosperity in every dimension of Irish life. Wide-ranging and long-standing research shows the significant advantages enjoyed by high-trust, high-performance organisations including superior stock market performance, employment and revenue growth, and innovation. Many larger organisations - such as Microsoft, O2, and PepsiCo - are already committed to building high-trust workplaces, and are regularly honoured among the Best Workplaces in Ireland'. I propose an initiative to inspire and support smaller Irish organisations to commit to building higher levels of trust in their workplaces. Inspiration will be provided by leading Irish sports stars (everyone can instinctively understand the role of trust in achieving success in team sports), More...

International Centre for Innovative Developments [ICID] Overview - Harnessing innovation for a dynamic shared future Crossing the traditional boundaries between areas of knowledge and highlighting the importance of convergence, the International Centre for Innovative Developments (ICID) will encourage, communicate and celebrate innovation throughout the island of Ireland. It will act as a technology ‘window on the world’, for example, linking US companies through the Ireland Institute of Pittsburgh with Irish companies. This transatlantic link will then be further developed throughout the island’s technology research centres and companies thus brokering new relationships, stimulating and capitalising on opportunities. This first completely integrated approach to innovation across the island, has a far reaching potential to stimulate the Irish business and educational worlds and generate new jobs. It will commence with an Innovation Learning Division tailored to the needs of b More...

In the past when the Irish economy has been in trouble tourism has been a critically important component in propelling a new economic recovery. Tourism is the indigenous industry best placed to drive fast, cost effective and sustainable economic growth and employment in Ireland. The quickest and most effective way to generate an Irish economic recovery will be export driven economic growth. Tourism is the indigenous industry best placed to alleviate our dependence on foreign investment and help kick start the recovery of our economy. We need to find innovative and original ways of attracting new people to Ireland through a new coordinated plan that will concentrate on an untapped market. The tourism market with the most untapped potential is walking and trekking tourism. This is a growing market worldwide that that generates huge revenues for countries like New Zealand, Switzerland and Nepal. These countries all have the beautiful natural resources necessary but more important More...
