Can you sing Ámhrán na bFiann? Do you konw at least two verses of it?? Can the children of this nation sing this anthem?
We take it forgranted that our children have learned our National Anthem or our county songs. Yet have you heard The Fields of Athenry sung in full at any match??? NO!! All you get is a mumbled first verse and resounding chorus. This is repeated many times throughout the match. Really, are we loosing our national identity?

Ireland has a unique selling point which we've never properly taken advantage of. Where there is good being done worldwide, you'll generally find some Irish input in the middle of it - and more often than not in a productive, selfess, volunteer, even leadership or management role.
for a small country, as participants in the Charity / NGO / .org sectors, we punch astoundingly above our weight in terms of 'Giving while we're living'.
This proposal suggests we take hold of the wealth of goodwill and credibility we have amassed, and establish a 'United Nations of Givers' here in Ireland - in a similar way to what Switerland have done in becoming the central hub for all Sports organisations and representatives (FIFA, UEFA, IAAF, the IOC etc.)
The idea would be to use create a central hub incentivise every organisation associated with Giving to establish some sort of neutral base here in Ireland - making use of amazing facilities that are already built, but sitting idle post-Tiger - More...

The proposal is to establish a National Recovery and Development Fund in order to generate capital which would help create jobs for small to medium businesses. The capital acquired through the fund will be divided between important sectors in the Irish Economy to encourage employment and help develop Irish self sufficiency in areas such as energy and crop cultivation.

To ensure that Ireland retains a true national identity and enhance pride in its people and culture I propose that at least one third of all time spent teaching in national schools is done so through the national language of Irish. Constitutionally it is our first language and we should take every initiative to ensure that our young appreciate it from an early age. This early learning initiative will make it easier for our students to learn the language and master it in a much more natural way. When students reach secondary level they will have a much more natural handle on the language and hopefully and enhance pride.

NOW money
With no money, no jobs & the country on its knees where does the NOW money come from? What we have to look at is the resources we have right now & where we can save money.
With regard the resources; what do we have in abundance, ready to go that does not need a massive cash injection to get off the ground? The obvious answer is an abundance of physically strong, fit, able-bodied educated men & women, a powerhouse of a workforce, currently idle & an abundance of newly finished & half finished houses also currently idle.
So we need to look closely at these two resources & think outside the box, outside Ireland because with no NOW money in here, we need to go out there & bring it back. Simply put, we need to be inventive & find ways to persuade other nations to part with their cash for our currently over abundant & idle resources.
In the 40/50’s our strong left Ireland to build Britain, America & other nations. Floodgates opened again in the 80’s this time not just our stro More...

I can solve the problem that many Irish people have in dealing with non-Irish nationals signing for social welfare and also receiving child benefit or children’s allowance in Ireland.
The European Union did not foresee a problem with the free movement of EU members to live and work in each other’s countries. It is now time to review the present situation and discuss how we can overcome our difficulties in sustaining our economy and building a comfortable future under new social and new economic difficulties.
We must welcome all people to our communities but without cost to our government and people.
Under the EU Ireland accepts people of other EU countries to receive Social Welfare & Child Benefit. It is a reality and a consequence of EU membership. This unforeseen cost must be borne by the EU and not by a small Economy. The migration of people across Europe to a small Economy like Ireland and qualify for social welfare can only continue while the Irish Budget lasts. Then we wil More...

A way of increasing your own tax free allowance by buying irish goods products and services. A percentage of Business taxes are put to local business grants to ensure money generated within a community is kept within the community.

Walking in Tesco this evening I noticed lots of signs which highlighted goods produced in Ireland.
This system made me think about an immediate way to highlight Irish goods on display.
The simplest and most immediate way of doing this is for a company to produce these stickers and send them to each manufacturer in Ireland.
If every household also got a booklet then they could put them on things they make at home eg apple tart, a poem, themselves even! This would get the nation thinking about being loyal to Ireland and that by supporting Irish goods they are keeping friends and people they do not know in employment.
Yes stickers are cheap and quickly go into the bin BUT the impact the stickers would make would contribute to developing the way of thinking we need. We need to take care of each other, support each other's businesses, before we go bankrupt and owned by another country.
Stickers stick.
