Given that Ireland has experienced possibly the greatest property collapse in history and that this event has virtually destroyed the nation’s economy, Ireland cannot be fixed until the Irish property market is fixed. We need a great Plan. This is that Plan. Property for People is a plan to use the excess property that has been built in recent years to solve many problems in society and to fix the property market so that it can return to sustainable growth.

The recent investment in the renewable energy sector in Ireland calls for second generation Greentech enterprises to provide services for this growth sector. Ireland Inc has spent the last decade creating a knowledge based workforce focusing on high tech and software sectors. Now is the time to put the mechanisms in place to retain this workforce and facilitate the growth of indigenous companies to compete in national and international markets.

This proposal suggests an integrated development area based around the Shannon estuary utilising and capitalising the natural resources of wind and wave, in a cohesive strategy which expands on and lends coherence to a number of recent exploratory projects. The plan would involve a number of public and private agencies and local enterprise and community working together to contribute to an overall strategic area development plan. This has potential to deliver thousands of jobs across all sectors of the economy from technology and engineering, innovation to services, farming , food production and tourism. The plan is also focused on sustainable and harmonious environmental protection harnessing local communities and scientific research to protect the environment and wildlife and at the same use it as an economic advantage using models which have been shown to work effectively elsewhere. The vision is realised as a sustainable Eco development project called the LOOP centred on the Loop More...

I propose a Quality Mark which will be attached to Irish goods and services. Making Ireland synonymous with, organic, low carbon, renewable resources, corporate responsibility, a duty of care to the environment, consideration for local communities and economies and ethical work practices.

Our country has ample skills and expertise in the construction industry. We have all the resources required to build a brand new carbon neutral village. The village should contain residential, commercial, industrial, educational and recreational units. Each one of these areas should be constructed and operated to the highest environmental standards. It would obviously use sustainable energy sourcesThe village could become a "show house" for the entire world. It would attract entrprenuers from all over the world as it would be an ideal venue in which to show case their new products. The project has many advantages. Intialy there would be large employment in the construction phase. Following on from that it would mark Ireland out as a world leader in new greener technologies. It would attract tourism. It would lead to a many R&D jobs.
